AEA to Monitor Lottery Legislation
On Saturday, the AEA Board of Directors voted to make the proposed lottery legislation a priority. The AEA Lobby Team will monitor the development of this legislation. Currently, no bill has been introduced; however, the House is working on a draft to create the Arkansas Education Lottery. We will update you on future developments as they arise.

AEA Supports HB 1378
AEA supports HB 1378: An act to provide additional income tax relief to head of household taxpayers with two or more dependents. Prior to 1999, a head of household filing state taxes in Arkansas received tax breaks for all dependents. Revisions in 1999 kept these tax breaks for one dependent but inadvertently omitted tax breaks for two or more children. HB 1378 corrects this omission and grants heads of household tax breaks for all dependents.

Members make a difference! The more members we have, the more impact the AEA has in its lobbying efforts and its influence on the state legislature. If you know any educational professionals who are not members, tell them about us! We'd love to answer any questions they may have.
